I Love this, this is Brilliant!Many years ago my then colleagues ie Senior Management had difficulty making the transition from someone being promoted in the Office to the Field. They threw the Pen across the room at me and asked me to sell the BIC pen. Now bear in mind I am a Director in my own Business at Home, Husband running it. I am also working as a Sales Operations Assnt Manager providing the statistical data to the World Sales Director and all Depts and National Accounts and Field Sales. Been promoted in 2 internal positions. The position was not office based but Field Based and they threw the BIC pen at me and I looked at it and rotated it in my hands, looking at the Features and Benefits of this BIC pen in my hands and then I threw it back at The Field Sales Controller and said "Teach Me, Train Me, you said it can be taught" I had two of the Best Trainers in the field and Barry Kergon The World Sales Director came along to my Training and I remember his words well. A Very Wise man with wise words we went out on a day to my Customers during the Flagship Brand Launch and although he was not my official Mentor I learned such a lot from him as he said I have learned a lot from you also. How do you really get to know someone? It is in Relationship as human beings we can judge in so many ways, right now you may even be doing it, ie reading and not liking. Anyway, this video reminded me of that day. I was asked "why should we employ you in Scotland West rather than the man outside the door in for the same position who was already in the field with a Brewer" Words can be telling as to what they didn't say.... especially when you know them and already have a relationship with them in a business capacity and perhaps they could not widen the vision to see me in this role. I answered .......... anyway I got that position they did not make it easy and even now I reflect back on the legacy they have left in my life.
